Oregon (updated 10/29/18)

Oregon had numerous areas where troops would accommodate lumberjacks for the production of spruce. These camps were pretty small and there is little data on them except for the areas they once existed.

Columbia River Area:
Ft. Stevens
How it looked during WWI.
The remains of the Peter Iredale
I visited the site and much of the base is well preserved. It did see some action in WWII. It is now a state park. Besides being very rich in history,  it is also incredibly scenic. The Northwest tip of the fort meets at the Pacific Ocean and mouth of the Columbia River. If one goes for a walk along the beach, they will see the remains of the Peter Iredale.
