(added 11/14/18)
Camp Knox was being constructed in late 1918. Most projects were abruptly halted after the Armistice. However, construction continued with Camp Knox. It was subsequently renamed Fort Knox. It saw action in WWII and remains an active duty site for boot camp. The U.S. gold supply is stored here.
Camp Zachary Taylor
(Updated 11/11/18)
Camp Zachary Taylor was one of 16 National Army cantonments. It is also the only national army post that didn't see any kind of WWII reuse whatsoever! This is likely because the much larger Camp Knox opened up, and had more potential for long term growth.
Newport: (near Cincinnati, Ohio)
